Education and Research
At Karunashraya we believe in sharing the wealth of knowledge gained over decades. And this belief took a beautiful turn in 2015, with the setting up of the “Department of Education and Research”. With the vision of improving the quality of care, our education and research centre trains medical, nursing and other health care professionals, guided by the finest minds in palliative care. We also carry out research work for a deeper understanding of palliative care and to identify areas of concern.…
As part of the endeavour of sharing knowledge, we have joined hands with the governments of Karnataka and Odisha, to train doctors in providing palliative care, not just in urban areas but to rural populations as well. Today we are playing a much more important role in training doctors and nurses under the National Program of Palliative Care (NPPC) – an initiative by National Health Mission – Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Our Department of Education and Research organizes conferences, symposia and colloquia on a regular basis for enabling close interactions with fellow researchers, and also to increase our visibility in the scientific community. By signing MoUs with acclaimed global institutions like NIMHANS, MAHE, Darwin International Institute for the Study of Compassion, U.K (DIISC), we offer guidance to students pursuing their MPhil, PhD and other further studies.
To bring our knowledge to the fingertips of the needy, we have developed a free mobile app “Pallikare- A Palliative Care App” which helps health care professionals in providing better and professional care for terminally ill patients, especially in remote areas.

Karunashraya’s effort to alleviate the suffering of its patients is commendable. Since inception, the team has touched the lives of thousands of people, helping those who are most in need of care. I am deeply appreciative of the Trust’s efforts in providing dignity to life when there is little else left and I hope more people will step forward to lend their support.
I visited this place to understand how it works, trying to gain perspective to help open a similar centre in Bihar. It is beautifully managed and a place of service, learning, training and much more.
I will be going back with ideas to run the centre.
I have known about this group for a long time but I got a chance to visit today. My sincere salute to all the staff members who work here.
God bless the organization
All of you have been doing selfless job which should reach every nook and corner of our country. I think it’s the ultimate feeling of satisfaction to see the patients receive such good palliative care. The praise for the staff is ineffable. I am really overwhelmed by the ambience, maintenance, the tranquility, the serenity. God is present here.
Hope I too get a chance to serve here in some way
It is indeed a heartening experience to take a journey into Karunashraya’s culture and infrastructure. It is necessary to state that this organization is in the forefront of providing holistic health care, till the last breath for the less fortunate.
Wishing them more laurels in this mission and all their efforts.
Very nice organization. Very neat and clean. Staff is very cooperative. May God bless you all.
Good job caring for the terminal patients.
Suggestion: We feel enough awareness about the presence of caring hospital trust for cancer patients should be spread by mass communication media like email to companies in Bangalore so that in case of need they should adopt this facility.
We wish all the best to all the staff, workers and the manager of this institution.
Excellent. God Bless.
